Wholesale Flower Preparation and Care
Just stick to a few tried and tested basics, and your wholesale roses and flowers will be the stars of the show!
Let's get started.
- Plan for delivery of your fresh cut flowers 2 to 3 days before your scheduled event date. This provides ample time to design and assemble your wedding bouquets, centerpieces, or any other decorations for your event. You also have a margin of error in case some unforeseen event caused a delay in the delivery via FedEx.
- Cut your flower stems at an angle with a sharp pair of non-serrated scissors and immediately place into lukewarm water. If you prefer, you may choose to cut your flower stems already under water. This prevents an air bubble from entering the flower's stem.
- Let your flowers rest and hydrate in the lukewarm water for at least 4 to 6 hours. Be sure to remove any leaves or petals that may be resting below the water line. If left under water they will begin to decompose. You may also remove any outer petals from your flowers that appear bruised or otherwise unsightly.
- Store your flowers in a cool location, away from direct, harsh sunlight and drafts. Never store your wholesale flowers in a refrigerator with other foods or fruit as they can expel toxins that are harmful to your flowers!
- Replace the water for your flowers at least every 2 days. Do not simply "top-off." Your flowers need and deserve a drink of fresh, clean water.
Congratulations, that's all there is to it! You are ready to arrange your fresh cut flowers into stunning bouquets and centerpieces!
